Section 9. Highway Business District (B-2)
A. Purpose
The purpose of the Highway Business District is to provide an
area suitable for highway-oriented businesses at a moderate
density.
B. Permitted Uses
The following uses are permitted in the Highway Business
District:

(2) Single family dwellings
(3) Two-family dwellings
(4) Multifamily dwellings served by public sewer
(5) Open space residential development in accordance with Article IX
(6) Community living uses
(7) Elderly congregate housing served by public sewer
(8) Mobile home parks
(9) Nursing and convalescent homes
(10) Rooming houses
(11) Accessory apartments
The following municipal and institutional uses:
(12) Churches
(13) Community buildings
(14) Hospitals
(15) Municipal uses
(16) Nursery schools and day care centers
(17) Private schools
(18) Public schools
(19) Quasi-public facilities
The following commercial uses:
(20) Auction barns
(21) Auto repair garages
(22) Boat and marine sales and service, provided there is no
exterior storage or display
(23) Clinics for animals
(24) Commercial schools
(25) Fast food restaurants, provided there shall be no
drive-through windows
(26) Financial services
(27) Funeral homes
(28) Gas stations
(29) Hair salons
(30) Hotels and motels
(31) Inns
(32) Leasing, rental, and storage facilities
(33) Motor home sales
(34) Motor vehicle sales
(35) Outdoor boat storage
(36) Personal services
(37) Publishing of newspapers, magazines, and books
(38) Retail sales
(39) Sit-down restaurants
(40) Storage within barns or similar accessory structures
existing as of the date of adoption of this Ordinance
(41) Theaters and entertainment, excluding games and activities
common to amusement parks
(42) Low impact uses, as defined in this Ordinance and not
otherwise allowed in this district and that meet the terms of Article VII, Section 4(9)
(42A) Technical services
The following professional services:

(44) Health service facilities
The following recreational uses:
(45) Golf courses and other commercial outdoor recreational
facilities, excluding games and activities common to amusement
parks
The following industrial uses:
(46) Manufacturing
(47) Printing plants
(48) Research and development
(49) Tradesmen's shops
The following utility uses:
(50) Commercial parking facilities
(51) Essential services
(52) Public utilities
(53) Road construction
The following accessory activities:
(54) Accessory uses
(55) Home occupations
(56) Homestay
C. Uses Permitted as Special Exceptions
The following uses may be permitted only upon approval as special
exceptions in accordance with the appropriate provisions of this
Ordinance:

D. Prohibited Uses
Uses not allowed as permitted uses or special exceptions are
prohibited within this district.
E. Standards
(1) The standards of performance of Article
X, Parts I and II, shall be observed.

(3) Screening
Multifamily and nonresidential uses abutting a residential district
shall provide screening in accordance with the standards in
Article X, Part II,
Section 3, of this Ordinance.
(4) Shoreland Area
Properties within shoreland areas shall comply with the additional
standards set forth in Article
X, Part I, Section 1, of this Ordinance.
(5) Historic Areas
Properties within historic areas shall comply with the additional standards
set forth in Article
X, Part I, Section 3 of this Ordinance.
